Chandigarh, 26 Feburary-:Karam Vir today formally assumed charge as President of the The Tribune Employees Union, one of the country’s oldest and largest newspaper employees’ unions. He was unanimously elected during the Union’s biennial elections held yesterday. The results were officially declared today by Returning Officer Rajesh Malik.
A total of 12 office-bearers and 25 members of the Executive Committee were also elected unanimously for a two-year term (2026–2028), reflecting broad consensus within the Union.
Sushil Kumar Tiwari was elected Senior Vice-President, while Ruchika M. Khanna secured her fourth consecutive term as General Secretary. Lovkesh Kumar and Sameer Sharma were elected Vice-Presidents.Among other office-bearers, Kalyan Singh Bhainsora was chosen as Secretary and Vijay Chawla as Office Secretary. Sukhbir Singh and Rajesh Kumar Sharma will serve as Joint Secretaries.Inder Kumar and Lovepreet Singh were elected as Propaganda/Organising Secretaries, while Ritu was elected Finance Secretary.All newly elected office-bearers assumed charge during a well-attended ceremony held at the Union office located within The Tribune building premises.Additionally, 25 members were elected to the Executive Committee, representing various departments of the organisation. Tarun Sharma and Joginder Bhatia served as Assistant Returning Officers for the election process.The unanimous mandate is being viewed as a strong endorsement of the leadership team as it begins its new term.
