Ludhiana | On 26th April 2025 Sacred Heart Convent School, Sector 39 Urban Estate, Ludhiana, organized a highly informative and impactful seminar on “Drug Abuse Awareness to promote awareness and prevention of substance abuse among school students.
The session was held in collaboration with the esteemed officials of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Sh. Sumit Sood PPS ACP East, Ludhiana Civil Lines was the main guest speaker. The primary objective of the seminar was to educate and sensitize students aged 14 to 17 years about the hazards of drug abuse and the deceptive methods employed by drug peddlers to lure adolescents into substance use.
The resource person gave an engaging and informative presentation on:
- The physical, psychological, and social effects of drug abuse.
- Legal consequences related to drug possession and distribution.
- Warning signs of addiction and how to seek help.
- Real-life cases and testimonies from individuals affected by drug use.
- The role of peer pressure and social media in influencing teens.
- Preventive strategies and tips on saying ‘No’ assertively.
Students responded with great attentiveness and asked several thoughtful questions during the interactive session, which were answered comprehensively by the officers.
The session concluded with a pledge taken by all students to stay away from drugs and promote a healthy, responsible lifestyle. The school management expressed gratitude to ACP Sh. Sumit Sood PPS and other officials for their meaningful contribution and commitment to shaping a safer future for the youth.
The school Principal, Rev. Sr. Crispin Maria DM, who highlighted the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle and also acknowledged that the session was a significant step towards building a drug-free generation and strengthening the moral and social fabric of the community.
