Ludhiana,23 April (Daljeet Singh Vicky)English Language Day 2025 is observed on April 23, a date chosen to commemorate both the birth and death anniversary of the legendary playwright and poet William Shakespeare.
This day serves as a tribute to Shakespeare, whose timeless literary works have profoundly shaped the English language and literature. English Language Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of the language — tracing its evolution from Anglo-Saxon roots to becoming the dynamic, global medium of communication it is today.
On this day, students recited quotes from the work of the Bard of Avon. They picked some excerpts from Shakesperean drama and enacted on them. The documentary prepared by the students of classes XI and XII had the best glimpses from his drama Macbeth. Views on his work and contribution to English Literature were shared. The quotes like- ‘All the glisters is not gold’, ‘what is done can not be undone’ were demonstrated by the students on coloured flyers. To promote the writings in English Language, they presented importance of different genres of Literature.English Department extended a vote of thanks to the Principal Rev. Sr. Crispin Maria for providing such an opportunity to celebrate Birth Anniversary of William Shakespeare and English Language Day.
